I worked on Disney's Feast for a few months as a lighter. This was the first show to use Disney's new raytraced renderer Hyperion. However for most my shots the lighting was primarily done in the comp using Nuke. I utilized various passes such as surface color, world position, normals and reference positions to create lightshapes that could be art directed. The reflections were all done using 3d nodes within Nuke. Despite all the tools we would often have to do a cleanup pass on light shapes to get exactly what was desired by the art direction. You can see a video below with some of my shots as well as a breakdown on how it was done.
